Episode 153:Matt Eversman “3rd Ranger Batallion/Black Hawk Down/Author/Public Speaker”

This week in the studio a man who dedicated 20 years of his life to the US Army serving with the 10th Mountain Division and 3rd Batallion 75th Ranger Regiment. He has served as Squad Leader, Weapons Squad Leader, Batallion Air Operations Sergeant, Battalion Liasion Sergeant, and Platoon Sergeant and First Sergeant. He has also led the 75th Ranger Regimentss Pre Ranger Course. This guest was involved in the fiercest ground combat since the Vietnam War, when he was a member of the Ranger element that was involved in Operation Gothic Serpent in Mogadishu in October of 1993, better known as Black Hawk Down. It was then and there that my guest learned what it meant to truly lead when being in charge was thrust upon you and everything that could go wrong actually does. He is a public speaker, Author, and mentor to countless soldiers. He has lived his entire life by being a great steward and public figure, when it comes to representing the Ranger Creed and the Warriors ethos. Please welcome to the studio Matt Eversman.

Matt Eversmann enlisted in the Army as an infantryman in December 1987 and was stationed at Fort Drum, NY with the 10th Mountain Division. In 1992, he served in the 3d Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment where he spent eight and one half years. Matt held many leadership positions throughout the battalion and was the officer in charge of the 75th Ranger Regiment’s Pre-Ranger Course where he prepared military leaders to pass the US Army Ranger School.
In August 1993, Matt and his company deployed to Mogadishu, Somalia in support of Operation Gothic Serpent. The battle made famous by the best selling book and movie Black Hawk Down. He served as the Operations Sergeant at the US Army War College and taught leadership at The Johns Hopkins University. Matt’s last military assignment was an Infantry Company First Sergeant in the 10th Mountain Division. He and his men spent 15 months in Iraq during “the Surge” fighting Al-Qaeda and implementing the counter insurgency strategy. Matt was a Master rated parachutist, a sniper and an honor graduate of Ranger School. He wore Thai, Egyptian and British jump wings. Matt retired in 2008 and spent a decade in the healthcare, non-profit and data management sectors before exploring his entrepreneurial spirit.
He is a Partner and Co- founder of Eversmann Advisory, a consulting firm in West Palm Beach. His specialty is preparing young leaders to join and compete in the workforce. Matt has been a professional speaker for over 20 years.
