Bobby Tuttle

Soldier

Bobby Tuttle was born in Berlin, Germany and is a native of Woodbridge, VA. He graduated from Texas A&M University as a proud member of the “Fightin’ Texas Aggie” Corps of Cadets and received his commission in the US Army in 2007.
Major Tuttle’s first assignment was with 2nd Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group at Fort Lewis, Washington. During this assignment Major Tuttle deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom – Philippines, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Enduring Freedom – Afghanistan.
Major Tuttle volunteered for Special Forces duty and graduated the Special Forces Qualification Course in 2012. He is a proud second-generation Green Beret. He went on to serve as Special Forces Detachment Commander and Headquarters Support Company Commander in 1st Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group, overseas in Okinawa, Japan. Major Tuttle has extensive experience conducting Special Operations across the Indo-Pacific theater of operations as well as stability operations in Afghanistan. He later served as an Observer, Coach, Trainer at the Joint Readiness Training Center in Fort Polk, Louisiana where he imparted his experience and doctrinal expertise to other Special Forces elements preparing to deploy to combat.
After earning his master’s degree from the Naval Postgraduate School, Major Tuttle returned to 1st Special Forces Group at Joint Base Lewis McChord, Washington where he served as an Operations Officer and then commanded Bravo Company, 2nd Battalion. During this time he led unilateral and partnered operations and activities throughout North and East Asia in support of Special Operations Command - Pacific and the National Defense Strategy. In 2020, Major Tuttle returned to the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School at Fort Bragg, North Carolina where he commanded the Headquarters and Headquarters Company and served in the Commander’s Initiatives Group for the two-star general officer commandant. He currently serves as the director for the Army Special Operations Language, Regional Education and Culture Directorate responsible for training new Army SOF Soldiers across twelve different strategic language and dialects.
Major Tuttle holds a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University and a master’s degree from the Naval Postgraduate School. Major Tuttle is married to his lovely wife, Leigh, and is the proud father of two amazing kids.
